Terms

Terms of use

The ground rules for using Frisson. By using the site, you agree to them.

Frisson

Frisson (tryfrisson.com) is run by Jason Howard. It asks what song gives you chills and writes you a Fingerprint about why. Frisson is free. We may add paid features later, but we will never charge you without you agreeing first.

We're still building Frisson, so features may change, pause or end. We'll try to give notice when something you use is going away.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 to use Frisson. If you're under the age of adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian needs to agree to these terms for you.

Your answers

What you write is yours. By submitting it, you let us store it, use it to write your Fingerprint, show it where you chose to (such as the leaderboard, if you tick that box), and count it in totals like the number of songs named. That permission ends when you ask us to delete your answers, as explained in our privacy policy.

Please only submit things you have the right to share, and only your own information.

About your Fingerprint

Your Fingerprint is written with help from an AI model. It's meant for fun and reflection. It isn't professional, medical or psychological advice, and it can get things wrong, including facts about a song.

Ground rules

Anything you choose to show publicly should be something you'd be fine with strangers reading. Please don't use Frisson to:

We can remove any entry from public pages, or block access to Frisson, if we think it breaks these rules or harms Frisson or other people. We don't have to give a reason, though we usually will.

Music and other people's content

Song titles, artist names, album art and facts about music belong to their owners and come from public sources such as Spotify, MusicBrainz, Wikipedia and Discogs. Links out to services like Spotify are covered by those services' own terms.

The Frisson name, logo, design and site text belong to Frisson. Please don't copy them in a way that suggests you're us.

No warranty

Frisson is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will always work, be error free, or be right about you or your music.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, Frisson and Jason Howard are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, that come from using Frisson. Our total liability for any claim about Frisson is limited to $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in San Francisco, California, unless the law where you live says otherwise.

Changes and contact

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top, and we'll email you about changes that matter. If you keep using Frisson after that, the new terms apply. Questions go to jason@tryfrisson.com.
